How We’re Handling Black Friday

Oh Black Friday. It’s bitter sweet for me. As a shopper, it’s exciting. As the administrator of this site, it’s overwhelming. It’s a challenge every year on how to handle the bombardment of deals that get sent to my inbox.

Part of me wants to say screw it. With the world economically in the tank as it is right now, participating in the commercial onslaught of the day seems inappropriate. But, still, I am here to help you discover the best of what’s out there and to be aware of great deals. So here’s what I’m going to do…

Instead of having a single humongous post that lists every single Black Friday deal, and then having to continuously edit that post as more and more deals get sent my way (even on Thanksgiving Day itself), whenever I get wind of a deal that I think you readers will want to hear about, I’ll make an individual post about it.

Each post will be tagged as “black friday 2011,” so if you’re looking for that large list of what deals are available, you can click on the tag and it’ll list each of the individual posts.

Is that cool with everybody?

With this laid out, let me stress the importance of shopping locally and at small businesses. Wall Street and large banks have made some incredibly selfish decisions that have thrown us in the tank, but it would be ridiculous to not recognize the impact that our own financial decisions make on our economic growth. Where you decide to shop is essentially a vote on what you’d like to see in the world. I encourage you to make conscious decisions.

Let’s have a great Thanksgiving week, spending it with our friends and family like the holiday is intended, while perhaps taking advantage of a couple of good shopping deals that support quality businesses along the way.
