The Brooklyn Circus’ “Project 10 Teaser #2″

Check out this video, which expresses how quality the backbone of The Brooklyn Circus.

The video’s entitled “Project 10 Teaser #2″.

Born on an unassuming corner in Brooklyn, New York, where worlds converge, to a group of diverse visionaries fueled by a common purpose: Style + Character & The 100 Year Plan. Founded by Ouigi Theodore, what started as a small shop in Brooklyn New York has now become a full-on show with flagships in San Francisco and Chicago and outposts in Japan and Sweden bearing the logo “BKc.”

itsbongoboy.com interviews Benny Gold

While on vacation in San Francisco, Matt over at itsbongoboy.com sat down with designer Benny Gold, who discusses how the brand came about, as well as how it grew and has developed into what it is today.

I’m a scrawny framed female, so there’s not much that I can personally wear of Benny Gold’s, but I did pick up two of his beanies, which have been perfect during the cool evenings in the Bay.

I’m consistently captivated by Benny’s attention to detail and drive to create quality pieces.  One day I’m hoping he’ll venture into women’s gear.  Until then, I’ll just be jealous of anybody who gets to sport his line.

Regal Clothing Co.

Regal Clothing Co. sent me a nice little package this week.

The design on the t-shirt is large and colorful, typical of what you’ll find in Regal Clothing Co.’s collection.  The quality of the tee is very soft (its printed on Gildan Extra Cotton).  I can’t really comment on the fit, as it’s a men’s small and a touch too big for my skrawny petite female frame.

Also in the package was a card from The Effing Card Company, a side company of Regal’s, that provides funny and sometimes offensive greeting cards.  I’ll be saving mine, “Go Eff Yourself,” until it can be given accordingly to someone who deserves it.

The really cool thing about Regal Clothing Co. are their small, yet generous touches.  In the package was also some candy, a bottle opener, stickers, water balloons and a thank you card.  When all of that comes to your doorstep in a special Regal Clothing box, it feels a bit more special than receiving a Fed-Ex envelope of only a tee.

All tees at Regal Clothing Co. are typically £17.50 (they do ship to the U.S.), however, they will launch some limited designs from time to time at special prices.  Visit their website to see all of their products, as they’re updated and changed regularly.  I couldn’t even find this “Sex, Drugs, and Sausage Rolls” tee on their site this morning, so if you like a tee, you better snag it quickly.

Big thanks to Darren at Regal Clothing for hooking us up with the great package.

Jun Takahashi’s “Avakareta Life” 2010-2011 Autumn Line

Jun Takahashi is ahead of the year, just releasing peeks from his “Avakareta Life” 2010-2011 autumn line.

There’s only one t-shirt highlighted here, but I wanted to get his work up on here because it’s so impressive.  Maybe it’s because it’s about three degrees this morning and only wearing a t-shirt sounds like death.

Plus, the photos here are incredible.  I love the simple changing out of the screen backgrounds.

You can hit the break to see more or visit Jun Takahashi’s site.

dance party massacre helps toughen me up

Last week I won a free shirt from Dance Party Massacre (you possibly could too if you followed them on twitter – @dpmassacre) so I thought I would let you know my thoughts.  They sent me over “The Sequel,” which they created to celebrate their own “sequel” of making it to another year as a business (super cool), and is limited to 75 shirts.

I actually have it on right now, so I can tell you that the shirt is really soft and fits well (despite that it is a women’s medium and I wear a women’s medium, this is HUGE).  The printing looks really sharp… sharper and better quality than most I would say.

The design is super cool.  It’s obviously different, but their entire line has their own unique look, and I love that about them.  Personally, I wouldn’t have picked this specific design to purchase, but I’m sporting it nevertheless and am loving it.

Plus, considering it’s not atypical to find me whimpering in the corner during the lamest of scary movies, it steps up my toughness status… on the outside anyway.

And the guys sent me stickers and a pin, so they rock.  If you’re interested, you can get Dance Party Massacre’s “The Sequel” for the sale price of $14.95, and just maybe it’ll help toughen up your look too.

Thanks guys!dance party massacre

unkstyle starting off on the right foot

Brian Chaplin’s mission for his new unkstyle brand is simple and direct:  to create designs that are unique, eye catching, and fun to share.  By the looks of his first five designs, he’s starting off on the right foot.

You’re not going to find any other designs that look like unkstyle’s.  Brian has kept to his own style and look, and as a result, his small collection is distinct and impressive.  Some may not be immediately drawn to his work, strictly because it’s different, but there can be no doubting he’s offering something new and fresh… a completely different look to what t-shirt’s can be.

Recently, Brian generously sent me three of his new designs.

1.  Death by Design

2.  Junkfood

Front of Junk Foodback of Junk Food

3.  U Smile

front of U Smileback of U Smile

I’m imagining some men may be turned off by the v-neck style, but you’ve got to love to front of the tee.

Overall, I’m impressed by unkstyle’s first offerings.  They’re not trying to fit in, to copy what’s already been out there.  To wear unkstyle’s designs, you’re going to need to be comfortable with yourself… comfortable with standing out from the crowd, just as Brian and his collection are doing in the t-shirt world.

Quality:  As far as the actual shirt, unkstyle prints on the popular American Apparel, so you know you’re going to get a soft and well-fitted tee.  The printing looks pretty sharp too, especially on the “Junk Food” tee.  My only complaint is the shadowing of the gentleman on “Death by Design,” which comes off appearing more blurry than it does a a shadow.

Design:  I love that unkstyle is not afraid to use the entire tee.  While the main design is on the front, the upper and lower back is utilized as well, and doing this with each tee completes a pretty cool look.  Brian does an incredible job of keeping the designs simple and yet asthetically pleasing.  “Junk Food,” with the text appearing to drip down the shirt, looks stunning and the picture above doesn’t do it justice.

Unkstyle has a style completely of it’s own, so if you’re looking for shirts that you won’t see anywhere else, you’re going to be very interested in looking further into unkstyle’s collection.  You can see the other tees available through unkstyle by visiting their facebook page

Now I’m just waiting for them to come out with some female-style shirts!

T-shirts are $27 each, and you can even get a little break by buying two for $45.  While their retail site is being finished up, unkstyle designs are currently available for purchase by emailing Brian directly at unkstyleclothing@gmail.com.

I love Teecycle Tim

I’ll just come out and say it.  I love Teecycle Tim at Teecycle.org.  After having one of the most patience-threatening days ever on Friday with my car, I heard about Tim’s “Instead of Shopping” event, where the first five to respond with what they were doing besides participating in Black Friday would receive a free Teecycle tee.

I was not one of the five, but when Tim read about my day, he hooked me up with a sweet tee.

If you’re not familiar with Teecycle, instead of creating and printing their own product, they collect used shirts in an attempt to limit the number of quality tees from finding their way into landfills.  This means that finding a product that you like and in your size can be limited, but it’s a damn good feeling when you find one that you like and that will fit you.  It’s like a garage sale from your couch.

I love the idea, love the site, and love the generosity of Tim.  Go check out Teecycle today.

Here are some tees they have up right now:

sharp shirter

I won’t go into with the history of tee company Sharp Shirter, except to point out that founder Dan Lachman and his line of creative designs “began as a reply to rejection.”  And with that, I’m already rooting for these guys.  You add the quality of designs that they have, and they’ve found their way into my personal favorite niche of shops.

I think that the strength in the Sharp Shirter collection is the artists’ use of color.  You’re not going to find only white, black, or gray tees.  They’re not afraid to step outside the norm and present things in a different way.  And usually, that risk is worth it, as they’re consistently completing unique and aesthetically-pleasing designs.

My favorite is easily “Banana Split.”

And they’re latest, “Haymaker,” is pretty sharp too.

Sharp Shirter prints their goodies on American Apparel and also offers hoodies, cardigans, and laptop and phone skins.  Check out Sharp Shirter, here.
