How freaking awesome is this? You’ve probably seen this J Dilla Changed My Life tee. However, this is the first time it’s getting it’s official release. The first tee was personally made by DJ Deckstarr, who was opening for J Dilla in what would be Dilla’s last show in Germany in 2005. DJ Deckstarr wanted to take the opportunity to let Dilla know the impact that he had made on him and his music.
Since then, the shirt has popped up here and there as people have made their own versions. Now, Stones Throw and Pay Jay Productions are releasing the official J Dilla Changed My Life tee.
It’s available now for $25 via Stones Throw. Shipping date is set for October 8.

Stones Throw and Stussy have come together to offer up the tee from the DJ Tour featuring Peanut Butter Wolf, Mayer Hawthorne (who by the way dropped a free EP yesterday) and J Rocc that took place last month in Japan. The tour was to celebrate Stones Throw‘s 15-year mark and the release of J Rocc’s album, ‘Some Cold Rock Stuf.’
The tour seemed in doubt for a moment, but for our partners in Japan, it was business as usual. The guys did the tour as planned, with only one J. Rocc show in Sendai having to cancel. (He’ll be back!) We ended up donating the proceeds to Japan Red Cross, and we even came back with a video.
The tee was illustrated by Gustavo Eandi, known for his cover art work on some of Madlib’s Medicine Show releases and J Rocc’s album.
You can order the tee in black or white colorways for $40/each via Stones Throw.
